Progress has been made!

Thanks largely to a select few amongst you, the community, significant progress has been made towards bringing WiiBuddy to Windows. The remotes connect just fine now and all that is left to do is to fully implement and test all of the remote extensions (easy) and get everything to work with the “TR” remotes (not so easy).

A refresher for those of you that aren’t aware, when Nintendo started making wiimotes with motion plus built into them, all was still right in the jungle. However, a few months after that, a new breed of remote emerged with the bluetooth identification of “Nintendo RVL-CNT-01-TR“. These remotes also have motion plus built into them but also work slightly different beyond that. They’re completely indistinguishable to the common user, but we are not common users, are we.

I still do not have consistent access to Unity Pro on a PC, but I am still able to move this forward. Hopefully, I will have even better news in a short while.

Have there been plans to implement Wii U controllers like the GamePad and Wii U Pro Controller? I know GamePad would be a little harder, but it would be very cool. I also am implying PC and Mac.

All the new WiiU controllers use a completely different type of connection than the ones we’re familiar with. They basically establish some sort of proprietary ad-hoc wifi connection that is waaaay beyond me. So… sorry. Honestly, if I can just find the means to finish this damned Windows version, I’d be happy enough.

    Any news about Windows version?

Someone volunteered to help move things along. I gave them some of the assets, but I think he might be in over his head. If I’m able to finish my current client’s project, I may be able to get back to this and finish it up.

I know it’s been a year since I released WiiBuddy and I feel terrible for not having a Windows version out yet, but I still don’t have a PC with bluetooth, let alone the Unity Pro license to go with it. So it’s been very difficult to find opportunities to actually work on this.

I would love to see a Windows version even if it did not support the “TR” remotes. I am only planning on using it with the Wii Balance board.
